Frank Gomez makes a mean pot of chili. The frequent chili cook-off champ and judge is best known in these parts as Wallace Elementary’s beloved ESL teacher, but long before he arrived in Lake Highlands, Texas, Gomez spent his youth in Uvalde.
Gomez attended Robb Elementary, site of Tuesday’s school shooting, and his heart is broken to see his childhood community suffering. His friends in the Wallace PTA are showing their love for Gomez and for Uvalde by collecting donations for the Robb School Memorial Fund, and they’re sending the money in honor of Gomez to help pay funeral expenses for children and teachers.
If you’d like to help, you may send funds through May 30 to PTA moms Nici Putnam (Venmo @Nici-Putnam) or Amanda Stevens (PayPal AmandaNStevens224@gmail.com). Note “Robb donation” in your contribution, and the funds will be administered by the First State Bank of Uvalde.
