Berkner High School and Spring Ridge Elementary were locked down Wednesday after an “armed man in the neighborhood” was detained near Berkner, according to a Richardson ISD-issued letter to parents. Berkner serves families in the far north neighborhoods of Lake Highlands as well as Richardson.
Students exiting Berkner told Smash Da Topic they were locked down for about 40 minutes before given the all-clear a little after noon. Everyone is safe and accounted for, reports Smash Da Topic, and police have placed a suspect in custody.
This comes on the heels of a mass shooting yesterday in Uvalde, Texas.
