Have a kid who wants to explore career options and get some experience during the summer? The Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program could be the match they’re looking for.

Now in its fifth year, the program is open to current high school juniors who are at least 16-years-old. Students must attend a Richardson ISD school or live in the Richardson area to be eligible for consideration.

Mayor Paul Voelker and partners of the City of Richardson will join together to provide internships in technology, manufacturing, communications, professional services, construction and more.

The internships could be from 10 to 40 hours a week for eight weeks. There are both paid and unpaid opportunities.

Businesses can also sponsor one or more students at participating nonprofits and see how those organizations contribute to the community and possible future careers.

Applications are open and the deadline is Mar. 17. Students also need to attend one of two workforce training workshops on either Mar. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to noon or Mar. 29 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m..

The internship program runs from June 6 – Aug. 5 this summer.
