DPD will host a community meeting Monday at HPUMC.

Neighbors in historic Hamilton Park and surrounding neighborhoods have lots of questions after officials from the DEA, FBI, ATF and other law enforcement groups announced a huge bust yesterday. Police officers from the Dallas Police Department’s northeast division will host a community debrief Monday in the parking lot of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church to address concerns and answer questions.

Thousands of counterfeit pills, more than 200 pounds of cocaine and dozens of guns were confiscated during “Operation Shut Down Corner,” which required more than 150 undercover officers operating in Hamilton Park over the past 15 months. The 19-count indictment charges 21 people with 71 violent offenses, including murder.

“This drug trafficking, gun wielding street gang has been terrorizing their neighborhood for far too long,” said U.S. Attorney Chad Meachum Wednesday at a news conference.

Monday’s community meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to cover ways the community can work together to keep the neighborhood safer for resident families. Snacks and drinks will be provided. HPUMC is at 11811 Schroeder Road.
