Walgreens at Abrams and Royal has opened their LabCorp at Walgreens patient service center, offering specimen collection for a variety of laboratory testing. The collaboration between Walgreens and LabCorp began in 2017, when the two industry giants opened their first site together. They’ve since created hundreds more LabCorp centers inside Walgreens stores across the country.
“This reflects our commitment to transform our stores into neighborhood health destinations that provide a differentiated, customer-focused experience, while providing access to a broad range of affordable health care services at a trusted and convenient setting,” said Stefano Pessina, executive vice chairman and CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc.
LabCorp offers a long list of services which formerly required patients to visit labs in medical clinics or hospital settings. Popping into the neighborhood Walgreens will make it easier and more convenient to secure routine lab work, employee wellness checks, employment drug tests, paternity tests, COVID-19 antibody tests and other such services.
LabCorp technicians at the Abrams/Royal Walgreens do their work in a secure room with three collections stations, and they’ll even receive and process specimens, such as colon cancer screening kits, addressed to LabCorp for mail-in. Simply log on at the LabCorp kiosk at the back of the store, and a technician will invite you into the collection station.
LabCorp at Walgreens is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. All tests must be ordered by a physician or healthcare provider, and you’ll need to bring your drivers license/ID, insurance card and test order form. Check online here for questions about appointments, billing and results. Walgreens is at 8310 Abrams, and the LabCorp services are in the back between the freezer case and the pharmacy.
