Oktoberfest

The sale of hats and hot dogs brings in funds for beneficiaries at the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands’ Oktoberfest Dallas, but, as any fundraising veteran knows, the real money – the dollars that make a serious and substantial impact in the community – come from sponsors. That’s why Patrick Brown, Carlin Volkmer and Todd Bowen, chairmen of the 2021 event, are recruiting new organizations and families to join in sponsoring Oktoberfest this year.

The primary mission of ECLH is to support child abuse prevention, provide grants for Dallas Police and Fire projects and provide college scholarships for Lake Highlands High School seniors. Funds raised from Oktoberfest also support neighborhood nonprofits, and previous recipients have included Family Compass, local school PTAs, Jordan Spieth Foundation, YMCA, Unlocking Doors, Pamper Lake Highlands/Bright Futures, Healing Hands Ministries, Dallas Parks & Recreation and Forerunner Mentoring.

The ECLH has 175+ members, and Oktoberfest requires the blood, sweat and tears of every single one. About 8,500 people attended the event in 2019, with 10,000 expected in 2021. The all day, family-friendly event is held at Flag Pole Hill and includes live music, food, beer, games and all variety of community fellowship.

Sponsorship opportunities abound, from the KidZone to the Cornhole Tournament to becoming a presenting sponsor. Details are here. Oktoberfest is October 2.
