First Lady Jill Biden is coming to town.
She is expected to tour a vaccination site at Emmett J. Conrad High School June 29 along with former Dallas Cowboy and football hall of famer Emmitt Smith.
The stop in the Lake Highlands area is part of a national tour to reach millions of Americans who still need protection against the virus, the White House shared earlier this month. The tour is meant to also highlight the ease of getting vaccinated and mobilize grassroots vaccine education and outreach efforts, the release shared.
The high school is currently serving as a popup vaccination location in conjunction with Dallas ISD and Parkland Hospital.
Schools that opted into the program are offering students and members of the community aged 12 and up vaccinations administered by Parkland staff. First doses are being given the week of June 28, with returns scheduled the week of July 19 for the second dose. W. W. Samuell High School, David W. Carter High School and James Madison High School are also serving as popup locations.
After the tour at Conrad High School, Biden will travel with Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff to Houston and they are expected to reach Phoenix, Arizona the next day.
