Poteet, an engineer with children at Moss Haven Elementary and Forest Meadow Junior High, collected the most votes in the initial election, and Clair, a former teacher and educational consultant with kids at Spring Creek Elementary, finished second. Third-place candidate Blake Sawyer has endorsed Poteet, and fourth-place hopeful Nicole Foster is backing Clair.

Poteet, a second-generation military serviceman who spent more than eight years on active duty in the U.S. Army, is a leader in the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands and the Dallas Regional Chamber. He served on the RISD Bond Steering Committee and Strategic Action Committee, and he helped design the expansion at Lake Highlands High.

“My work on the 2021 Richardson ISD Bond Committee gave me unparalleled insight into the needs of our schools throughout the district,” said Poteet. “As your trustee, I will focus on improving and supporting our campuses and expanding our innovative programs that are increasing student achievement while ensuring that our tax dollars are spent as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

Clair began her career in Dallas ISD, teaching English as a Second Language, coaching softball and writing curriculum before becoming a district administrator. She now consults for TNTP, formerly The New Teacher Project, coaching district and campus leaders to eliminate academic inequalities.

“My background as a district level administrator required me to advocate at both the individual (school) and district level,” said Clair. “I will utilize this skill to listen to the needs of the many communities my position would support while also working with board members to find a consensus for the district. I will work intentionally with leaders and families within the LH community to ensure their voices are heard and represented in my service to the district.”
