Nonprofit Living for Zachary is bringing free youth heart screenings to the neighborhood this spring.

The Lake Highlands YMCA will host the free screening event on Saturday, April 24. Testing includes an ECG, echocardiogram and blood pressure check.

Living for Zachary aims to raise awareness and prevent sudden cardiac arrest in youth. The organization was founded in honor of Zachary Schrah, a 16-year-old who collapsed without warning during a high school football practice in Plano in 2009.

The nonprofit will also be heading to the White Rock YMCA on Saturday, April 10 for another free screening event.
