A silver SUV crashed into Haute Sweets’ kitchen Tuesday

Tuesday began like any other day at Haute Sweets Patisserie, with co-owner/chef Tida Pichakron and her staff creating delicious goodies and prepping for the upcoming holiday. Suddenly, they heard a loud bang and saw a silver SUV come crashing through the store’s front windows.

Pichakron and two employees were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released for various injuries. They’ll be recovering at home for several weeks, according to a message posted to Haute Sweets’ website. The driver, who apparently stepped on the gas when meaning to press the brake, was treated on-scene.

The vehicle crashed into the kitchen side of the operation, but the customer side remains unaffected. The dessert case had just been stocked for the week, so the sweetshop is asking supporters to buy up macarons, cakes, pies, bars and brownies and show patience while the kitchen is closed for repairs. Friends of Haute Sweet have created a Go Fund Me page to help rebuild the small business.

Haute Sweets is at 10230 Northwest Hwy near Ferndale. They’ll be open from noon to 5 today and 11-5 Friday and Saturday.
