In September, Alamo Drafthouse announced they were temporarily closing four locations – the Richardson and Lake Highlands location remained open. This week, the company announced the Lake Highlands and Richardson will temporarily close as well.
“Due to the lack of upcoming major new releases, we’ve decided the best way to conserve our resources during COVID is to temporarily close all of our Dallas-Fort Worth franchise locations, effective immediately,” Alamo DFW owner and chief operating officer Bill DiGaetano wrote in a statement.
Although the two locations opened with COVID-19 restrictions, many people were still wary to attend movie showings. The closures are considered a “pause,” with the intention of reopening all six Alamo Drafthouses someday.
