Will Faris is Lake Highlands High School’s five-star kicker, currently ranked fifth in Texas by Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp. This week, he hopes to add another award to his trophy case – VYPE DFW 2020 Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
VYPE’s poll pits Faris against 18 other special teams dynamos throughout the metroplex. Fan voting began yesterday, and Faris is currently running third.
The Wildcats’ home matchup Friday against Plano East is likely to be a showcase for kicking talent. The Panthers’ kicker, Ben Woodard, currently leads in the VYPE poll, but Faris hit a 42-yard field goal against PESH as a junior last year. The week before, he’d kicked a 46-yarder against Mesquite. You can view his highlight reel here.
Faris can’t win the VYPE poll on his talent alone – he’ll need Wildcat Nation to vote early and often. You can click his name here through Oct. 5. Go Cats!
