Dallas ISD will not start school until after Labor Day.
The board of trustees voted 8-0 to revise the upcoming 2020-21 school calendar, so students will go back to class on Sept. 8 instead of Aug. 17.
This three-week change pushes back the last day of school to June 18.
The new school calendar canceled a three-day weekend in October allotted for the State Fair. Instead, there is a new holiday on Tuesday, Nov. 3, Election Day.
The grading period will be nine weeks instead of six weeks.
