Ten years ago, Emmanuel Acho was visiting Merriman Park Elementary with his brother Sam, speaking to schoolchildren about his experiences playing football at the University of Texas and taking mission trips to his parents’ home in Nigeria. Today, he’s schmoozing with Oprah.
Acho announced last night that his popular internet series, “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man,” will become a book, and Oprah Winfrey is his partner. After Oprah began a book club in 1996 on her popular daytime talk show, everything she does in the book world turns to gold.
Acho’s conversations so far have included Academy Award-winning actor and UT professor Matthew McConaughey and “Fixer Upper” favorites Chip and Joanna Gaines. His latest is with two interracial couples – gold medalists Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban and The Bachelorette’s Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasalo.
The book will be available November 10, but you may pre-order it here today.
