Emma Janes, Natalie Duval, Maggie Dzina and Alex Addison at Moss Haven’s graduation parade

Moss Haven Elementary hosted a graduation parade Monday, with principals, teachers and staff members lined up six feet apart on the sidewalk along the circle drive out front. MHE sixth graders and Lake Highlands High seniors who attended MHE proceeded in cars along the parade route, just as they did during carpool years ago. Current teachers were joined by former ones, who returned with decorated signs and messages of encouragement. The graduates’ usual end-of-year activities were canceled due to COVID-19.

After the parade, a few of the seniors paused at Moss Park’s nature area to pose for photos. When firefighters from nearby Station 28 showed up, they jumped off their truck and into the pics. The hardworking first responders, just finishing a call, congratulated the girls as they prepare to head off to colleges all over the country.
