Dawson, who graduated from Lake Highlands High in 1993, has been a favorite of residents all over Ohio since he began his NFL career in Cleveland in 1999. He played 14 seasons for the Browns and holds team records for most consecutive field goals made (29) and most field goals in a game (6). He kicked in the Pro Bowl in 2012.

Dawson played with the San Francisco 49ers from 2013-16 and the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 and 2018. After 21 seasons, he signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a Brown in 2019.

It’s not clear if Dawson will travel from his home in Austin to Akron on August 15 for Cleveland Football Night to participate in the ceremonial release of his likeness, but the team is clearly excited about welcoming his many fans. Canal Park, home to the RubberDucks, seats 7,630 fans and features a party atmosphere with music, mascot shenanigans and plenty of fun.
