Brisket is an art form all its own at Oak’d Handcrafted BBQ.
The barbecue joint opening this spring in the Old Town Shopping Center on Greenville Avenue will provide us city folk with fancy barbecue that’s locally sourced, handcrafted and seasoned just right.
The restaurant at 5500 Greenville Ave. will specialize in brisket “infused with the vanilla-tinged flavor of Texas Post Oak smoke and cradled in a peppery bark.” The eatery’s other menu items, which include a variety of smoked meats, gourmet sides, artisan bread and homemade ice cream, sound pretty good too.
Owners have partnered with radio couple Allen and Kellie Rasberry-Evans to create a signature pulled pork sandwich with sausage, bacon, coleslaw and a Carolina sauce on a seeded bun topped with pickles.
The space, which was once Korean chicken restaurant Bonchon and DiMassi’s Mediterranean buffet, is under construction, CultureMap reported. It is scheduled to open this spring, according to the eatery’s Facebook page.
