Wednesday was a big day at Lake Highlands High, with 7 student athletes signing letters of intent to play at 5 colleges in 3 states.

Defensive lineman LaTrell Smith will play football for Lamar University in Beaumont. Defensive lineman Azion Washington will play football for Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Defensive lineman Michael Nwokocha will play football for Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Offensive linemen Isiah Tatum, Darlington Peter and Jeaver Walitubana will play football at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Defender Jordan Rush will play women’s soccer at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, Texas.

The seven outstanding players join classmates Finley Sims, who signed in November to play volleyball for Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee, and Preston Lawrence, who’ll join the Rogers State basketball team in Claremore, Oklahoma.

    Blogger CAROL TOLER and her husband, Toby, are the parents of four LHHS graduates. She has an MBA from SMU and is the proud recipient of the Exchange Club of LH's Unsung Hero Award and Councilman McGough's Blake Anderson Public Service Award. She received LHHS PTA's Extended Service Award, FMJH PTA's Charger Award and a Life Membership from the LHFC PTA. She has moderated candidate debates for Dallas Mayor, Dallas City Council and RISD Trustee races and taught seminars on garnering publicity for nonprofits. She completed training with Dallas Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation and Inside RISD, and she's a sustaining member of LH Women's League.
