Lake Highlands High defeated Mansfield Summit Friday night 35-19, setting up area playoffs against Flower Mound Marcus Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. Marcus, District 6-6A Champions, beat Keller 34-7 to qualify for Saturday’s game.

Friday night’s playoff wins were Marcus’ first since 2015 and Lake Highlands’ first since 2009.

Wildcat quarterback Mitch Coulson was Herculean in the game, with 3 rushing touchdowns, one touchdown pass and an 87-yard kick return. He rushed for 158 yards before the night was done.

Also giving standout performances were Wildcats Jeremiah Richards, Jason Daniels and Jaycob Thomson, who each made big interceptions. Tyson Washington had 16 carries for 148 yards, and Cristian Bernal caught a pass from Coulson for a 26-yard touchdown.
