Each of the other finalists will receive grants to her chosen nonprofit. After the online votes are tallied, the People’s Choice Award winner will receive an additional $1,000 to donate to their charity of choice

“If you know Christie, you know she is a fierce advocate and always community first. I’ve watched her mentor, come alongside, and inspire countless students, fight for a community to have access to the transportation and mental health services they deserve, and stand in the gap for the voiceless time and time again,” Councilman Adam McGough wrote in a Facebook post.

Myers provides a voice for neglected communities through her work with Imagine Dallas Inc. She has advocated for policy changes to provide equitable transportation options for the poor and also advocates for community health strategies to be deployed in disinvested neighborhoods.

Meyers has also served as the General Manager for Neighbor Up and is the co-founder and Director for the Mayor’s Rising Star Council (MRSC). She is currently executive director of EdCor and focused on building an integrated healthcare clinic in Southern Dallas.

Vote for Christie Myers here, voters can vote daily per e-mail.
