Through October 31, El Fenix fans can light up their taste buds and support our community — all at the same time. For every Durango Dinner purchased in October, El Fenix will donate one dollar to the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico (ANMBF) program.
Anita N. Martinez is more than just daughter-in-law of El Fenix founder Miguel Martinez. A known leader in Dallas’ Hispanic community, she was the first Mexican-American member of Dallas City Council. In 1975, she founded Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico to boost confidence and self-esteem among young Hispanics.
At each of its 18 area locations, El Fenix’s contributions from the October Durango Dinner promotion support Martinez’s Ballet Folklorico performances, after-school programs and summer camps throughout Dallas. ANMBF’s mission “is to create a cultural and educational foundation to unlock the potential of every child through active engagement in the arts.”
El Fenix’s Durango Dinner features a cheese enchilada topped with chile con queso, a cheese enchilada topped with chile con carne, and a crispy beef taco served with rice and beans. And, of course, the Durango Dinner tastes great with a margarita or cerveza.
Diners at El Fenix’s original Downtown location, 1601 McKinney Avenue, also can enjoy a tribute to Anita N. Martinez displayed in Martinez Hall and read about her art and cultural contributions to the City of Dallas.
