Inside The Store in Lake Highlands

If you pulled into Northlake Shopping Center in August hoping to shop at The Store in Lake Highlands, you were in for quite a surprise. Owner Cheryl Calvin moved the entire operation to the newly remodeled Lakeridge Village at Walnut Hill and Audelia, and now she’s ready to host a celebratory grand re-opening. Officials with the Lake Highlands Chamber of Commerce and the LH Public Improvement District will help her host a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, along with Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Adam McGough.

After the ceremony, there’ll be a Storytime Book Signing with children’s author Ann Stautz at 11 a.m., then free Kona Ices from the Kona Shaved Ice Truck. Calvin will have prizes and special events savings, including 100 free #shoplakehighlands t-shirts for the first 100 customers.

The new location is not quite as big, Calvin told me when she announced the move in December, but it’s one contiguous space. She’d added onto the Northlake boutique over the years, which made the space feel “kind of cut in half.”

“This will be cozier,” said Calvin, “and that’s a good thing. It will feel like the perfect size.”

The Store is next to La Michoacana and across the parking lot from Lakeridge’s new outdoor park.
