Brick House Burgers and Shakes has only been open since March, but already its building a loyal following in the little spot formerly home to Deep South Burger near Skillman and Audelia. I can’t quit the Brunch Burger, with smoked bacon and a fried egg, but you might like The Pilgrim, a turkey burger with avocado and pepper jack, or Hell’s Kitchen, with ghost peppers and green chili. The Oink Oink features pulled pork with BBQ mayo and slaw, and if you order the Wildcat Burger, one dollar goes to Lake Highlands High School.
Brick House offers beer and sodas, but they really perk up when you order one of its hand-crafted shakes – and they’ll add Oreos, Reese’s or Gummy Bears for 50 cents. You can choose regular fries or sweet potato waffles, and fried pickles, mozzarella sticks and cheese fries are also on the menu. Salads and homemade chips are additional options.
Happy hour from 3-7 p.m. weekdays features discounted appetizers, shakes and beer, and Wildcat athletic posters adorn the drink station. Burgers range from $5-8.
Brick House is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is located at 9090 Skillman, north of Tom Thumb.
