A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Lake Highlands neighbor and Dallas County Republican Party leader Missy Shorey will be held May 10.
Shorey, 47, died suddenly April 23. She was the first woman to serve as chair of the Dallas County Republican Party after being elected to the position in 2017.
The Dallas County Republican Party released a statement after the announcement of her death.
“Being elected as DCRP’s first Chairwoman might have caused some to tread lightly into their role, but not Missy,” the statement reads. “She embraced it fully from the beginning and fulfilled it with true grace and vigor. She was a tireless champion for the Party, its candidates, and mission.”
State and national political figures have shared fond memories of Shorey, which The Dallas Morning News chronicled here.
The Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. May 10 at the Church of the Incarnation, at 3966 McKinney Ave. A reception will follow, Shorey’s husband Marc Himelhoch announced on Facebook.
