And…they’re off!
Picture perfect weather brought out big crowds for the Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League Run the Highlands Saturday, a good sign for their plans to beautify the trestle area near Lake Highlands High. Proceeds from the race will create a welcoming gateway into Lake Highlands, Texas.
You can view my photos from Run the Highlands here.
For decades the trestle, now busy with DART trains, was a quiet overhang painted by seniors as Wildcat tradition. LHJWL will add “LAKE HIGHLANDS” in steel lettering, and they will landscape, light and clean up the area. They presented a check Saturday for $75,000 toward the project.
If you didn’t run or sponsor a runner, it’s not too late to be part of the project. You can log onto the LHJWL website and donate here.
