Waffle House isn’t exactly gourmet, but neighbors won’t have to wait as long as we’ve previously reported for chocolate chip waffles and bacon.

We first announced the southern chain would open at Greenville Avenue and Forest Lane in 2017.  A year later, the restaurant’s bright yellow sign never appeared at the intersection’s southwest corner. Then Pat Warner, director of public relations and external affairs, told the Advocate the restaurant was expected to open in 2021.

The good news for Waffle House enthusiasts: The restaurant’s opening date has been pushed forward.

The bad news: You’ll still have to wait another year (or more).

“This restaurant is projected to open in the fall of 2020,” Warner recently told us via email.

Warner did not explain the initial delay, but we’ll continue to update you as we learn more.
