Lake Highlands Family Aquatic Center
It may look like a big sandy hole in the ground today, but the Lake Highlands Family Aquatic Center will be a beautiful blue oasis when it opens Memorial Day, and the City of Dallas says now is the time to purchase your season pass.
Passes go on sale online here today, and if you purchase between now and April 15 you’ll receive 40% off. The regular price is $70, but you’ll pay $42 to swim all season long – the equivalent of 7 daily entries. The best part, of course, will be breezing past the line as you whip out your pass.
The aquatic center, currently under construction across from Lake Highlands High School, will feature a six-lane lap pool with diving board and climbing wall, a gentle entry children’s pool with play structure and a 20-foot slide tower with two body slides. It will feature a shade pavilion, umbrella tables and lounge chairs and offer a bathhouse with showers, family restrooms and lockers along with a concession stand.
The aquatic center is replacing the Lake Highlands North pool, called Skyline years ago. Funds to build the center were derived from the city’s sale of Elgin B. Robertson Park at Lake Ray Hubbard, now being developed as Bayside in Rowlett. When LH wasn’t on the original list to receive a new pool from the funds, former Park Board President Joan Walne, Councilman Adam McGough and other LH notables argued we were entitled, since our neighborhood uses our pool heavily, runs it efficiently and invests in our community loyally. LH was added to the list.
Folks who don’t purchase a season pass will pay a daily admission fee of $4 for children 11 & under and $6 for folks 12 & older.
