Jackson Borg

During his days as a 2012-13 Bell Boy at Lake Highlands High, Jackson Borg was known for his zany antics at pep rallies and football games. Borg was handsome and hilarious, and even teachers couldn’t help but laugh at his wackiest skits and pranks.

When he went off to the University of Texas at Austin, and even after he graduated, Borg devoted himself to mentoring a group of boys at Lake Travis High School. He became their Young Life leader when they were seventh-graders, and was seeing them through this year – their senior year.

Borg was struck and killed while attempting to cross Interstate 35 in Pflugerville on Sept. 4 about 8 p.m. The driver of the semi that hit him was unable to swerve, and doctors at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center nearby were unable to save him.

Borg was employed by VMWare of Austin, and his family says he loved skateboarding, running, playing soccer with friends, traveling, reading and teaching himself to play the guitar. He is survived by parents, Cindy and Kevin, and brother, Andy, also an LHHS grad.

Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, and a celebration of his life will be Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Dallas, 9330 N. Central Expwy. The family welcomes donations to Young Life summer programs in lieu of flowers.
