It’s the most generous time of the year here in North Texas, and the giving spirit has nothing to do with the holidays. Communities Foundation of Texas‘ North Texas Giving Day is upon us. In 2017, the annual giving bonanza raised $39 million for 2,723 nonprofits. Although the event starts Thursday, you can schedule an online donation today.
What: North Texas Giving Day is “an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform.”
When: Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Where: Donate on NorthTexasGivingDay.org, scroll through to find your charities of choice and click the green “give” button. Have your credit cards at the ready.
Who: In Dallas alone, there are over 1,400 nonprofits who will be taking donations. In 2017, Lake Highlands area organizations — based in zip codes 75218, 75231, 75238 and 75243 — received 3,000 donations that totaled about $650,000. Pamper Lake Highlands received $29,051, and Healing Hands Ministries received $32,145.
