Scoot McNairy (left), a ’96 LHHS grad, acts in two SXSW debuts

Last we heard, Scoot McNairy lives in middle-of-nowhere, Texas, where he sips cheap beer and tells neighbors he’s a lavender farmer. The Lake Highlands native hoped to maintain a low profile, despite roles in “Argo” and “Killing Them Softly.”

“Halt and Catch Fire” had not yet aired when Texas Monthly’s Christopher Kelly interviewed McNairy in 2014 about his life in rural Texas. The AMC series cast McNairy as Gordon Clark, a computer engineer with nerdy tendencies and unfulfilled dreams. The TV show ran for four seasons before it ended in 2017.

Our former neighbor is headed back to the big screen; this time in a Quentin Tarantino film.  “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” revolves around an actor and his stunt double about the time Charles Manson started wreaking havoc in Hollywood.

Besides McNairy, the cast features Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Margot Robbie and Dakota Fanning, among other A-list celebrities.

The movie doesn’t open until 2019, but you can see a sneak peek of the set here, courtesy of Los Angeles magazine.
