Soon children can climb and swing on the Boomerang or spin on the Supernova at Flag Pole Hill’s inclusive playground.
After four years of planning and raising funds, construction of the Signature Playground for People of All Ages and Abilities is underway. City officials, along with several nonprofits involved in the project, gathered Tuesday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony.
The inventive playscape is a “21st-century playground in a historical setting,” said Robb Stewart, park board representative for District 10, at the event. The equipment is accessible for all children, regardless if they have physical, mental or sensory impairments.

“This is an exciting time,” City Councilman Adam McGough said. “This is a generational project. This is a model the city can use moving forward.”
The City of Dallas collaborated with the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, For the Love of the Lake, Lake Highlands Exchange Club, Lake Highlands Women’s League and the junior women’s league to bring the playground to fruition.
