Dallas Police to host BBQ fundraiser for Home Depot officers Friday

Officer Bervin Smith shows kids around his police car

Dallas police already have brisket slow-cooking on the grill, readying for their “We Are In This Together” BBQ Fundraiser tomorrow/Friday at the Northeast Division. The event is a fundraiser for the family of Rogelio Santander, for Crystal Almeida and for Scott Painter. Santander was killed during the recent Home Depot shooting while Almeida and Painter are recovering from gunshot wounds to their face. Santander and Almeida were DPD officers, and Painter was a Loss Prevention Officer for Home Depot.

If you’d like to attend the barbecue, the police will be serving brisket, chicken, sausage, fried catfish, chicken fettucine, baked beans, potato salad, pickles, onions, peppers and lemonade. No ticket or RSVP is required, but a $10 donation is requested (more will happily be accepted).

The fundraiser will be held June 1 from 11-8 at 9915 E. Northwest Highway.
