Are you ready for some Wildcat football?

Big changes are coming for Wildcat football fans concerning the way we purchase season football tickets. The process, long handled by volunteer parents at Lake Highlands High using giant seating chart boards, has gone digital. Returning season ticket holders will receive an email with a link and instructions to renew their seats online now through May 21. Exchanges may be done online May 21 – June 4 after purchase of your original seats has been accomplished. You may also transfer your seats to another person during the exchange period by calling the RISD Athletic Office at 469-593-0121.

If you are a newbie, go online here June 5-July 31 to buy your season tickets. You won’t be able to see where your friends are sitting as we old-timers did on the chart back in the day, but you’ll select your seats based on what is available. Beginning Aug. 1, fans may buy single game tickets only.

Tickets will be picked up at the LHHS Fall Sports Rally Thursday, Aug. 23 from 6-8 p.m. in front of the LHHS gym.

LHHS plays the first home game Friday, Aug. 31 at Wildcat Stadium, and we have a Saturday morning game against Plano East at the Cotton Bowl the following week. You may find the full Wildcat football schedule here.

Your first chance to evaluate the team’s chances, though, will come Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at the annual Red and White Game. As is Lake Highlands tradition, graduating members of the band, drill team, cheer squad and Bell Boys wear t-shirts representing their intended college and participate through halftime. That’s when the torch is passed to next year’s seniors, who officially begin leadership duties. Exchange Club of Lake Highlands members serve hot dogs in the end zone and the conclusion of the game. Gates open at 1 p.m. and hot dogs will be served about 4.

Go Cats!
