Did you notice this Lake Highlands native performing at the Oscars?

In between Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes and verbose acceptance speeches, one Lake Highlands native appeared onstage Sunday at the Academy Awards.

Annie Clark — or St. Vincent, as many now call herperformed “Mystery of Love” alongside indie darling Sufjan Stevens. Featured in the movie “Call Me By Your Name,” the piece was nominated for Best Original Song.

Clark was a member of Sufjan Stevens’ touring band before she went solo, so her Oscars appearance isn’t terribly surprising. (Unlike her awards show outfit, which fashionistas have either praised or hated.)

Clark returned to her roots in February when she played a gig at The Bomb Factory.

“[I would] drive around with the windows down waiting for something to happen,” she told the crowd. “Driving around White Rock Lake waiting for something to happen. Skipping school, going to Jack in the Box, looking for something to happen … And it only took 20 years, but now you’re all here. So dreams do come true, Dallas, Texas.”
