David Burroughs receives Life Changing Chicken Award at SMU
Lake Highlands resident David Burroughs was honored during an SMU men’s basketball game Saturday for his 35 years as a first responder with the Dallas Police Department. The folks at Slim Chickens presented Burroughs with their “Life Changing Chicken Award,” acknowledging his career as a patrol sergeant and his sacrifices to keep the people of Dallas safe.
Burroughs, who also oversees the bike patrol for White Rock Lake, has spent almost 30 years at the Northeast substation in Lake Highlands. He is set to retire in 2020.

She received LHHS PTA's Extended Service Award, FMJH PTA's Charger Award and a Life Membership from the LHFC PTA. She has moderated candidate debates for Dallas Mayor, Dallas City Council and RISD Trustee races and taught seminars on garnering publicity for nonprofits. She completed training with Dallas Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation and Inside RISD, and she's a sustaining member of LH Women's League.
