The 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off is at Lake Highlands Jr. High on Saturday at 3-7 p.m. Teams of parents will be competing for the top prize and all proceeds go to the LHJH PTA.

A Laugh A Minute comedy night at the Kaycee Club features Laron Wright and other Dallas area comedians. The show is Friday from 8:30-11:30 p.m and admission is free.

If you’re philanthropically inclined, you can help build a shed for the Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet. The school needs help with assembly and painting. Volunteers will get started around 9 a.m. and are welcome to stay as long as they can. Donations are needed, suggested items can be found on their facebook page.

Her voice has a swagger.” Tickets start at $15.
