The Lake Highlands Wildcats secured their spot in the playoffs with a 56-30 rout over W.T. White last Friday. The Wildcats finish 6-4 in the season, making them third in District 9-6A.
This means Lake Highlands will matchup against undefeated Sachse High School on Friday. It won’t be an easy match, but the Wildcats have been on the ball as of late.Â
There were some very strong performances some key pieces of Lake Highlands’ offense last Friday. Quinton Freeman rushed for 167 yards on 24 carries while also scoring three times. Freeman also finished sixth in the area in rushing yards (1278). Jakson Thomson who finished fourth in the area in passing yards (2229) completed 16 of 21 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those three touchdowns went to Jonathan Barrows who caught six passes for 86 yards. The other touchdown was caught by Donavan Fugit in the second quarter. The Wildcats’ offense also 2nd in the area in total yards(4614) and yards per game(461).
Lake Highlands looks to keep up the momentum this Friday against the Sachse High School Mustangs in the first round of the 6A playoffs at Garland’s Williams Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
