“The athletic directors are putting together hot dog eating teams to prepare for the event,” says Michelle Davis, the PTA’s VP of Ways and Means.

Everyone is invited down to watch the showdown from 3-4 p.m., but it is just part of an all-day fundraiser. Those who dines in the restaurant that day is asked to turn over their receipt to the PTA, who will be on site. Shady’s will give the school 10 percent of all the receipts it collects on Oct. 15.

“That includes alcohol sales, which is just so generous of Shady’s,” says Davis. “We want to get as many people to Shady’s that day as we can.”

Don’t worry, there’s no Cowboys game that day — “we checked before we scheduled the event,” Davis confirms.

She has focused on bringing new vigor to the school’s fundraising efforts to better bridge the gap between the school’s desires and what the district can provide. She also created a new Booster Club to support school activities. This is the first of several events expected during the school year to support the school.
