It was late, shortly before 2 a.m. on Oct. 19, when Bruce Harris, 38, found himself broken down in one of the northbound lanes on Central Expressway, near the Walnut Hill exit.
He and his passenger, a 36-year-old man, sat waiting for help. A 23-year-old driver in an Acura, who also had a 23-year-old passenger, apparently did not see the disabled vehicle and plowed into the back of it. The hit was so hard, it caused the gas tank in Harris’ car to explode, creating a ball of flames.
All four people involved in the crash were taken to Presbyterian Hospital with injuries, where Harris died. ESPN reports that he was the brother of Dallas Mavericks guard Devin Harris.
