It was a busy couple of days Lake Highlands last weekend during the school’s Homecoming. The festivities kicked off Friday night with a blow out football game against the Richardson Eagles where the Wildcats won by the score of 38-0.

Before the game the homecoming king and queen were announced. Senior Mitchell Hurst, a starting linebacker for the football team, was crowned king while queen went to senior Katie Gray, who is a drum major for the band.

Quinton Freeman led the charge on the field Friday for the Wildcats, rushing for 253 yards and a touchdown. He was named one of SportsDay’s offensive players of the week. Zyrion White contributed on both sides of the ball catching a 17 yard touchdown pass from Jakson Thomson and also returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown while on defense. The Wildcat defense held the Eagle’s offense to just 204 total yards and only eight first downs.

The team and students got the blow off some steam Saturday starting with Varsity Revue, a showcase of all types of student talents, then off to the homecoming dance for the remainder of the night.

The Wildcat’s next game is against the Jesuit Rangers at 7:30 p.m. Lake Highlands will look to spoil Jesuit’s Homecoming with a Friday night win.Â
