If your children are growing and you are looking to clean out your closets, Three Sisters Consignments can help. You may even find a few bargains.
The bi-annual Three Sisters Consignment Sale, now in its 12th season, allows families to price and mark gently-used children’s clothing, toys, baby equipment and other items for sale at low prices. The next 3-day event, which includes a preview day for consignors willing to volunteer, will be held Sept. 28-30 in the Highland Oaks Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.
Consignors receive 70% of the sales price – 75% if they agree to work volunteer shifts at the sale – and many opt to donate their unsold items to Three Sisters’ designated beneficiaries – Pamper Lake Highlands, East Lake Pet Orphanage, Highland Oaks Caring and Sharing and the RISD Clothes Closet. Books are given to the Richardson ISD Council of PTAs Used Book Fair or neighborhood Little Free Libraries, and a few items of clothing and equipment are given to local families known to be in need through CPS or other agencies.
“This has turned out to be so many little ministries,” says Lake Highlands resident Molly Deason, who founded the business with sisters Amy Young and Emily Hatcher. “I get letters and emails from foster parents and grandmothers who say they love that they can outfit children and teens for the entire year with clothes the kids are proud of. They say they could never afford to go into the department store and purchase many of the items they find at our sale.”
The key to the sale’s success, says Deason, is insisting that consigned clothing be high-quality and on-trend and that equipment be gently-used. “This is not a garage sale,” she says. A list of accepted items can be found here.

Shopping runs Friday, Sept. 29 from 8-5 and Half Price Day is Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9-5. The sale is held at Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane.
