The Lake Highlands High School Wildcats opened up the 2017 football season with a big win against Mesquite High School last Friday.

The Cats held strong throughout the game, with a final score of 43-19.

Corey Fulcher was a big key in the offense’s success Friday, both rushing and receiving. He handled 13 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns averaging about 10-yards per carry in addition to his seven receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. Fulcher has already made his college plans having verbally committed to Texas Tech University.

Trumane Bell helped lead the defense, holding Mesquite to just 19 points. Bell had three sacks, one of which was a strip sack that defensive lineman Anthony McClinton scooped up and ran 70 yards for a touchdown to seal the win for the Cats.

The Wildcats next take on the Lewisville Farmers this Friday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Lewisville.
