The Bathhouse Cultural Center will premier “Women Playing Hamlet” by William Missouri Downs, starting Thursday evening. This all-female play is about a woman who is cast as Hamlet in New York. Shows will run Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m.and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15-$25.

Join Councilmember Adam McGough and City of Dallas staff for a meeting to talk over the proposed 2017-18 budget. Staff will make a presentation followed by questions and answers from the audience. The meeting will be next Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Lake Highlands Recreation Center.

This year will be the first annual Back-to-School Fair benefitting Forest Lane Academy. The final time to drop off school supplies will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Forest Lane Academy. Local singer-pianist Mark Carroll will perform songs Thursday and will follow with a book signing of his memoir “Reaching for the Moon” at Half Price Books. Books will be sold independently by the author from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Junior Players, a local children’s theater, will perform dances from their upcoming play “Metamorphisis” this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Sunken Garden at the Dallas Arboretum. The performance is free with admission to the arboretum, which ranges from $12-$15.

On Saturday, lend a hand to help keep our neighborhood lake clean at the For the Love of the Lake’s Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up. Stop by the organization’s office at 381 Casa Linda Plaza anytime between 8 a.m. and noon to pick up cleaning supplies, along with free coffee and goodies from Another Broken Egg.

Forest Green branch library will host “Guardians From Around the World,” a Go Van Gogh Art Program where kids learn how guardians of artwork from the Dallas Museum of Art have helped people around the world, and then make some take-home art of their own. This free event is Thursday at 2 p.m.

Head to Uncle Calvin’s Friday night to enjoy Son of Town Hall and Grace Pettis. Son of Town Hall will be in their usual Victorian-era outfits with sing-along numbers about life and the sea. Grace Pettis is a singer-songwriter from Arkansas with a family full of musicians. The show is at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15-$18.
