If you’re finding yourself ker-plunking through Lake Highlands’ potholes this summer, you’re not alone. Around the neighborhood and all across Dallas, residents are discovering damage to their cars done by damage to the streets.
Potholes often worsen in the summer, experts say, when the Texas heat takes its toll. Potholes are formed by water, freeze-thaw cycles, excessive heat, wear-and-tear and time.
If you’d like to report your favorite offender, you may call the city’s “pothole hotline” at 3-1-1 or go online here and scroll to choose alley, pothole, sidewalk or street and give details for city repair crews. You may also download the city’s mobile app, which enables you to upload pothole photos and indicate the location.
Dallas City Councilman Adam McGough says roads will be a big part of the November bond election and he’ll be working to make sure LH gets our fair share of the pothole pie when the council discusses the bond Wednesday morning at City Hall. It’s a public meeting, and McGough invites LH’ers to attend in support of LH roads, a new Forest Green library, improvements to the Hamilton Park Recreation Center and/or whatever hits your hot button. The meeting kicks off at 9 a.m.
