Erin and Gina Gossett hit the slopes before the transplant
Erin Gossett, a 2010 graduate of Lake Highlands High School, recently gave her dad, John, something that might put that “World’s Best Dad” mug you have wrapped to shame – she gave him her kidney.
Their story, featured on last evening’s NBC 5 news, shared the tale of John’s need for transplant when diabetes caused his kidney to fail last year. Erin, her twin Gina, and her older sister Kelsey Gossett Mildren, all jumped in to volunteer as donors.
Erin, a nurse on Baylor Medical Center in Dallas’ transplant floor, was a match. John works as a nurse at Baylor’s Heart Hospital.
The two are recuperating well, and Erin is expected back at work by July 1st. That’s good, since she recently became engaged to LHHS classmate Michael Wren and has a wedding to plan.
Congratulations and get well wishes to both.
