Lake Highlands High School graduate J.T. Bloodworth brought his University of California San Diego baseball team to Texas last week for the NCAA Division II national championship tournament at AirHog Stadium in Grand Prairie. Bloodworth, former standout on the Wildcat baseball team, currently serves as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at UCSD.
After dropping their opener to St. Thomas Aquinas (New York) in extra innings, UCSD fought off elimination four times, earning a spot in the championship game Sunday. There, they lost to West Chester (Pennsylvania) 5-2, but they’ll return home today as second in the nation.
Congratulations, J.T.!
