Since Dr. Bob Iden resigned in 2008, 3 administrators have led LHHS. The latest, Frank Miller, announced his resignation Friday afternoon.

Miller began his tenure with great enthusiasm.

“I’m very aware of the pride in this area,” he told me at the time. “I believe this can be one of the best schools in the state.”

In a letter emailed to parents, Miller wrote that he plans “to pursue a business opportunity with my family. While I’m looking forward to this opportunity and the time with my family, I am saddened to be leaving the Wildcat community.”

Miller’s wife, Malinda, provided more details in a heartfelt Facebook message in which she thanked friends and family for supporting them through their 3 years at LHHS.

“After a ton of praying about it, Frank has graciously and gratefully accepted the position of CEO, Miller and Sons. It is a family business birthed by his dad, Frank Miller, Sr., who is endeavoring to retire at some point in the next five years. But it was truly a difficult decision to make, as his heart has been (and is in) the Lake Highlands community.”

According to their website, Miller & Sons Funeral Car Sales is family owned and operated and provides funeral service vehicles, limos and passenger vans to the trade.

LHHS has had 4 principals in 10 years:

Frank Miller: 2014-17

Peggy Dillon: 2010-14

Walter Kelly: 2008-10

Dr. Bob Iden: 1997-2008

RISD will move quickly to begin the search for a new principal according to a letter by Dr. Kristin Byno, RISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Secondary of Schools. They are already creating a Campus Reflector Committee, she said, to provide input to the process. Persons interested in serving on the committee should email Stephen Quisenberry, Executive Director of Human Resources, at Stephen.Quisenberry@risd.org.
