Kent Perkins
Lake Highlands High School 2013 grad Kent Perkins wasn’t drafted this weekend, but he’s headed to the NFL just the same. The former Wildcat and University of Texas standout was signed through free agency by the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday.
Perkins, playing offensive lineman for the Longhorns, enabled D’Onta Foreman and others to make UT the 19th best rushing team in the NCAA this year. With Perk on the line, Texas averaged more yards per game in 2016 (491.2) than ever in the school’s history. Foreman was drafted by the Houston Texans – the only Longhorn taken in the 2017 draft.
No word yet on if Perkins will play, but the Bengals drafted only one offensive lineman – J.J. Dielman, a fifth-rounder out of Utah. Congratulations, Perk!
