Construction began this week on Andy’s, one of a chain of freestanding frozen dessert restaurants with stores in nine states and plans to open in four more. Local stores are currently open in Carrollton, Frisco and Grapevine.

Andy’s started in Osage Beach, Missouri, where the treat became popular with vacationers at Lake of the Ozarks, and soon franchises were popping up all over Missouri and beyond.

Andy’s menu features frozen custard with fresh fruit or candies blended in, and seasonal creations include the “Words Can’t Describe It” Apple Pie Sundae and the Pumpkin Pie Concrete. They also offer Banana Splits, Coke Floats and Italian Ices. You can view the full menu here.

No word yet on an opening date.
