C.C. Young speakers on Friday, Jan. 13 include a DART representative and a spiritual psychotherapist. Have questions about DART/ public transportation around Dallas? Dallas Area Rapid Transit information specialist Chris Walters is there for you at C.C. Young’s The Point building lobby from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This information session is free, walk-in welcoming and open to the public.

While you are there, stay for the Spirituality and Aging lecture, presented by Dave Dinneen, a psychotherapist from the Pastoral Counseling Center. Dr. Dinneen also is a clinical social worker, has served as the pastor for several United Methodist churches. He holds a master of divinity degree from Southern Methodist University and master of social work from University of Houston. C.C. Young is located at 4847 W. Lawther.

Later Friday, from 8-10 p.m., head on over to Heroes Lounge, 7402 Greenville, for the rebirth of the GNO Show, wherein Godj Boladi and Jonathan GNO White offer laughter, education and an overall amazing show. Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m., get to Gordon Biersch at Shops at Park Lane and work with TangoTab to feed the city. If you can make a sandwich, you can help. Attendees bring sandwich supplies and spend the morning making sandwiches for people in need. Visit the Facebook invitation for more information about the event.

Saturday at noon, visit Makers Connect, 10242 Northwest Highway, for the Pick ‘n’ Plant event. Drops-ins are welcome to preview a selection of pottery from Dallas and Austin artists. Once you pick your pot and a plant from an array of handpicked succulents and cacti, the experts will help you find the right soil mix and even gift-box it up for a friend, if you wish. You pay only for the pottery and plant.

Now that’s out of the way, Sunday, 7-9 p.m., (fingers crossed, the audience is praising the Lord as) The Whiffenpoofs perform at Wilshire Baptist Church. This, the nation’s oldest a cappella group, which hails from Yale, has been singing and traveling the world since 1909. Tickets run $15 for children under 18 and $25-35 for adults.
